Sports Of World Provides Federation Cup Tennis Information                         Sports Of World Provides Federation Tennis Information
Introduction

The Federation Cup was started in the year 1963 on the 50th anniversary of the International Tennis Federation. Mary Hare took so too much efforts to present this idea (actually originated from Hazel Wightman) in front of the ITF. At last in the year 1963 this tournament was flagged off in style as 16 teams came to participate in the Inaugural tournament. The 1994 Federation Cup was the 32nd edition of the most prestigious sporting events in the women's tennis. There were about 73 teams participating in this competition and Canada at the 1994 Federation Cup was one of them.

Canada made their debut in this competition in the year this tournament was started that is 1963. So far they have not won the title and the best performance has been in 1964 and 1967 when they reached the quarterfinals of the world group.

Performance of Canada at the 1994 Federation Cup

Canada at the 1994 Federation Cup was in the world group along with the teams like Australia, Netherlands, Austria, France, Italy, Spain, Bulgaria and United States. In the first round of the world group match against Switzerland, Canada played so well that led them to the second round. Canada defeated Switzerland by the score of 3:0. In the second round match United States easily Defeated Canada by the score of 3:0. That was the last match for Canada as they remained in the world group for the 1995 Federation Cup.

Here’s a summary of the performance of Canada at the 1994 Federation Cup

The overall performance of Canada at the 1994 Federation Cup was satisfactory as they just managed to regain their position in the world group for the next year's competition. Canada's presentation in this competition was not so good because of their over confidence and lack of consistency in the match against United States.
