Bolivia at the 1994 Federation Cup

Federation Cup as women's premier tennis tournament took birth so as to mark the anniversary of the International Tennis Federation. This tournament commenced as a women's competition between United States and Great Britain. The competing nations initially played in the qualifying rounds after which depending on their performance, were either knocked out of the tournament or promoted to the World group stage. The 1994 Federation Cup was the 32nd edition of this world renowned championship in women's tennis. Bolivia started its international women's tennis career in 1991. Out of the 73 participating teams, Bolivia at the 1994 Federation Cup was one of the average teams.

Bolivia at the 1994 Federation Cup was placed in the American zone. Other teams in this group were Bahamas, Chile, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Jamaica, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Uruguay, Venezuela and Trinidad and Tobago. In the qualifiers, Bolivia played its first round robin against Guatemala. Bolivia won dominatingly by 3-0. Next match featured contest of Bolivia and Dominican Republic which Bolivia again won proudly by 3-0. The next round robin match resulted in Bolivian loss to Cuba by 1-2. The next clash was then again won by Bolivia against Guatemala by 3-0. However, Bolivia lost the final round robin clash to Paraguay by 0-3. Eventually, Bolivia was ousted from the championship.

Bolivia at the 1994 Federation Cup was placed in the American zone. In the qualifying matches, Bolivia won in its round robin matches against Guatemala and Dominican Republic. The defeats to Cuba and Paraguay dealt a severe blow to the chances of Bolivia to perform exceptionally better at the 1994 Federation Cup. Hence, loosing some key matches in the later stages of round robin led to the ousting of Bolivia from the tournament.
