Introduction

The Federation Cup emerged as the equivalent for men's Davis Cup tennis tournament in 1963. This tournament was actually a women's competition tournament between United States and Great Britain. The competing nations initially played in the qualifying rounds after which depending on their performance, were either knocked out of the tournament or promoted to the World group stage. The 1994 tournament was the 32nd edition of the Federation Cup. Bahamas started its international women's tennis career in 1990. Out of the 73 participating teams, Bahamas at the 1994 Federation Cup was one of the average teams.

Bahamas at the 1994 Federation Cup was placed in the American zone. Other teams in this group were Bolivia, Chile, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Jamaica, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Uruguay, Venezuela and Trinidad and Tobago. In the qualifiers, Bahamas played its first round robin against Jamaica. Bahamas suffered a defeat by 1-2. Next match featured contest of Bahamas and Chile which Bahamas again lost miserably by 0-3. The next clash against Trinidad and Tobago also resulted in loss of Bahamas by 1-2. The last qualifying match against Ecuador also featured defeat of Bahamas by 0-3. Such a dismal performance led to the ousting of Bahamas from the 1994 Federation Cup.

The contest against Trinidad and Tobago also poured in shameful results for Bahamas as they again lost owing to a sad performance. The match against Ecuador was the last feat of defeat and unworthiness achieved by Bahamas in this tournament. Thus Bahamas was ousted from 1994 Federation Cup owing to extremely awful performance.
