Introduction

Federation Cup is the most recognized competition in the women's tennis. This tournament originated in the year 1963 as the International Tennis Federation celebrated its 50th anniversary. In the inaugural year there were around 16 teams which came from different venues to participate in this competition. Teams had to gather their own expenses as there was no prize money for this competition but still the teams were eager to take part in this Federation Cup. As in Davis Cup, Federation Cup was also been dominated by United States and Australia as they have won the title for 17 and 7 respectively.

 

Spain and Czechs are third, as they have won 5 titles each. The 1994 Federation Cup was the 32nd edition of the most famous competition in the women's tennis. There where about 73 teams participating in this competition and Argentina at the 1994 Federation Cup was one of them. Argentina started their Fed Cup career in the year 1964 and their best performance has come in the year 1986 and 1993 when they reached the semifinals of the competition.

Argentina at the 1994 Federation Cup was in the world group along with the teams like Spain, Germany, France, Argentina, Japan, Sweden, United States and Slovakia. In the first round match against Cuba, Argentina did start well as they trounced Cuba by the score of 3:0. Then in the second round match against Spain, Argentina had real trouble as they were not able to play their normal game. Spain crashed Argentina's hope of Qualifying in the next round as Spain defeated Argentina by the score of 3:0. Therefore Argentina remains in the world group for 1995 Federation Cup.
