In the year 1981 Brazil played against Czechoslovakia, Spain, Yugoslavia, Philippines, Germany and Ireland. The performance of Brazil in the year 1978 was not satisfactory as it was defeated in the first round itself against Germany F.R.The performance of Brazil in the first round of the year 1977 was remarkable since Brazil defeated Chinese Taipei by winning all the three matches out of the total five played. Brazil at the 1981 Federation Cup displayed an excellent performance since it reached the first round of The World Group after qualifying successfully all the levels played against various nations. In its Final round played against Czechoslovakia under the World Group, Consolation Rounds at the clay court of Japan, Brazil was defeated by the Czechoslovakia with a marginal score line of 0-2.In the semifinal round played in Japan, Brazil defeated Spain with a score line of 2-0.Yugoslavakia was defeated by the Brazil players with a score line of 3-0 in the Quaterfinals.In the second round played against Germany .F.R under the World Group faced a defeat with score line of 0-2.Finally in the First round, under the world Group played against Ireland, Brazil defeated Ireland with a score line of 3-0.
