Belgium at the 1981 Federation Cup played their matches of the first round against the team of Great Britain and the matches were held on 15th November in Japan on the out door clay court, the challenge of the British team was quite difficult to bear for the Belgian team, the team of Great Britain trounced the Belgian team with a score of 0-3 and the team thus had to play in the world group consolation round. The Spanish team eventually defeated the Belgian team in 2 matches and thus the challenge of the Belgian team came to an end in the quarterfinals round.
