Group I and Group II played knockout tournaments. Group III and IV played round-robin matches with promotion and relegation. The finals took place from 1st to 3rd December at Moscow, Russia. Rwanda at the 2006 Davis Cup was placed in Group III of Europe/Africa Zone. Rwanda sent following players:

Countries at the 2006 Davis Cup
The matches in Group III of Europe/Africa Zone were played in two venues. The countries that played the matches in Venue 1 were Andorra, Armenia, Estonia, Lithuania, Moldova, Monaco, Turkey and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Following countries played the matches at Venue 2: Botswana, Cote D’lvoire, Denmark, Ghana, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda and Tunisia.
Participation and Performance of Rwanda in the 2006 Davis Cup
There were total 8 teams to play the matches at Venue 2. They were divided into 2 groups. Rwanda at the 2006 Davis Cup was placed in Group A along with Denmark, Namibia and Tunisia. Group B included Nigeria, Ghana, Cote D’lvoire and Botswana. The matches were played at BTA Centre (Notswane Courts), Gaborone, Botswana from 26th to 30th July. Rwanda played the first set of matches against Denmark. Rwanda had to face disappointment in these matches. They lost all the three matches against Denmark. The matches between Rwanda and Tunisia were played on 27th July. Rwanda’s players showed poor performance. They were defeated by Tunisia in all the matches. Rwanda played the matches against Namibia on 28th July. Namibia defeated Rwanda in all the three matches. Rwanda played the matches in the 5th to 8th Play-off round. Rwanda played the matches against Cote D’lvoire on 30th July. Players of Rwanda could not play well. They lost all the matches against Cote D’lvoire. The matches between Rwanda and Botswana were played on 30th July. Botswana defeated Rwanda in all the three matches. As a result, Rwanda got the last position in the final standings.
