Group I and Group II played knockout tournaments. Group III and IV played round-robin tournaments with promotion and relegation. The final took place from 1st to 3rd December at Moscow, Russia. Oman at the 2006 Davis Cup was placed in Group IV of Asia/Oceania Zone. Oman’s team included following players:

- Mohammed Al Nabhani

Oman was placed in Group IV along with Iraq, Jordan, Myanmar, Qatar, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and United Arab Emirates. Oman’s players put amazing performance.
Participation and Performance of Oman in the 2006 Davis Cup
Total 9 teams competed in the Group IV. They were divided into 2 groups. Oman at the 2006 Davis Cup was included in Group A along with Iraq, Myanmar and Qatar. Group B included United Arab Emirates, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Jordan. The matches were played at Al Hussein Tennis Club, Amman, Jordan from 5th to 9th April. Oman played the first set of matches against Myanmar. Oman’s players showed wonderful performance. They won all three matches against Myanmar. The matches between Oman and Iraq were played on 7th April. Oman defeated Iraq in all three matches. Oman played the matches against Qatar on 9th April. Oman showed magnificent performance. They didn’t give an opportunity to Qatar’s players to win a single match. Oman won by 3-0. Thus Oman got 1st rank in the final standings of Group A.
