Participation and Performance of Bahamas in the 2006 Davis Cup

All the three matches were won by the players from the Bahamas. Marvin Rolle defeated Gonzalez 6-3, 5-7, 6-3. Devin Mullings also won the match against Alvarez 6-3, 6-7, 6-4. Then the third match which was a men’s doubles, yielded victory to the Bahamas. However, the performance given by the athletes from Bahamas deteriorated towards the end of the round robin leg. Against Trinidad and Tobago, Bahamas won two matches and lost one. Then, in the final set of matches against Honduras, contenders from Bahamas won just a single match and lost two out of the total three.

However, after the round robin, Bahamas was sent to compete in the 1st to 4th play off matches. In this round, the first set of matches against Puerto Rico was not played. The next two set of games against El Salvador and Cuba proved to be lethal for the Bahamas team. The team from Bahamas did not win even a single match and was placed third in the final rankings.
On the whole, performance of Bahamas at the 2006 Davis Cup was satisfactory in its group but deteriorated in the 1st to 4th play off matches.
