Introduction

Davis Cup is the leading tennis tournament in the sport of tennis, which is held only for Mens. The 2003 Davis Cup was 92nd edition of the most important tennis tournament for Mens. There were a total of 135 teams that participated in this year of the tournament. Amongst these 135 nations Israel at the 2003 Davis Cup was one of the contenders. This team gave its first performance in this tournament in the year 1949. The Israel Tennis Association maintains the Israel Davis cup team. In the previous year of the tournament it didn’t give a good performance so it was hopeful of a better one in this year.

Israel at the 2003 Davis Cup participated from the Euro/African zone. It participated from the Group I of this zone along with nine other participants. In the first round it competed against Belarus and lost to it by a very close margin. Out of the total of five matches it was able to win only two and the rest were won by Belarus. Thus Belarus defeated Israel by a score line of 3-2. It thus had to compete in the play-off round. In this round it faced Zimbabwe and defeated it. Israel completely dominated this round by a score line of 5-0.
