The participating countries at the 2000 Davis Cup American zone Group I were
Argentina, Bahamas, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru
Chile and Ecuador advanced to the World Group Qualifying Round due to their brilliant performances whereas Colombia was relegated to Group II in 2001.
The participating countries at the 2000 Davis Cup American zone Group II were
Costa Rica, Cuba, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Paraguay, Uruguay and Venezuela
Mexico delivered satisfactory performances and got promoted to Group I in 2001. On the contrary, Cuba and El Salvador got relegated to Group III in 2001 Davis Cup owing to their poor performances.
The participating countries at the 2000 Davis Cup American zone Group III were
Bolivia, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, Netherlands Antilles, Panama, Puerto Rica and Trinidad and Tobago
Dominican Republic and Netherlands Antilles were advanced to Group II in 2001 whereas Haiti and Panama were demoted to Group IV in 2001 owing to their respective performances.
The participating countries at the 2000 Davis Cup American zone Group IV were
Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Bermuda, Eastern Caribbean, Honduras, Saint Lucia and US Virgin Islands
Bermuda and Honduras got promoted to Group III in 2001 for their remarkable performances.
Asia / Oceania zone
The participating countries at the 2000 Davis Cup Asia/ Oceania zone Group I were
China, India, Japan, Lebanon, New Zealand, South Korea, Thailand and Uzbekistan
India and Uzbekistan delivered satisfactory performances and thus they were promoted to the World Group Qualifying Round. Lebanon was relegated to Group II in 2001 because of their poor performance.

Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Pakistan and Philippines
Indonesia performed very well and thus they got promoted to the Group I in 2001. Kazakhstan and Philippines were demoted to Group III in 2001 owing to their poor performances
The participating countries at the 2000 Davis Cup Asia/ Oceania zone Group III were
Bangladesh, Kuwait, Pacific Oceania, Qatar, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Syria and Tajikistan
Kuwait and Syria delivered remarkable performances and thus they were moved up to Group II in 2001 whereas Bangladesh and Pacific Oceania were relegated to Group IV in 2001 as a result of their poor performances.
