Introduction

The 2000 Davis Cup was in its 89th edition and was a very important event in Men’s tennis. No doubt that the 2000 Davis Cup tournament was going to be as grand as the previous ones. The event was made more enthusiastic by the participation of 135 nations from all over the world. Spain won its first Davis Cup title in 2000. They defeated Australia in the finals on December 8-10 at the Palau Sant Jordi situated in Barcelona, Spain.

Panama played their first Davis Cup tournament in 1996.Panama has always displayed an unsatisfactory performance and has only competed in Group III and IV. They competed in Group III in the years 1996 and 1999 for the Davis Cup tournaments.
