Participation and Performance of Cyprus in the 2000 Davis Cup
Cyprus at the 2000 Davis Cup played matches of Round Robin. On 19th Jan Cyprus team played matches against Lesotho. In this matches Cyprus defeated Lesotho by 3-0. G.Kalanov of Cyprus defeated K.Khali of Lesotho in the sets by 6-3 and 6-1. The second match was won by D.Leontis of Cyprus defeated N.Moeletsi in the sets by 6-1 and 6-0. M.Baghdatis and D.Leontis of Cyprus defeated N.Letseka and R.Motsepa of Lesotho.
On 20th January Cyprus played the matches against Kenya of the Round Robin. In the matches Cyprus was defeated by Kenya by score of 2-1. In the first match, A. Cooper of Kenya defeated G.Kalanov of Cyprus in the sets by 7-5, 4-6 and 7-5. In the second match D.Leontis of Cyprus put up dominant performance and defeated T.Kiruki of Kenya in the straight sets by 6-4, 6-4. In the doubles match, the Kenyan pair defeated pair of Cyprus in the straight sets by 6-4 and 6-3.
On 22nd January Cyprus team played matches against Djibouti. Cyprus team made wonderful performance and defeated Djibouti by 3-0. In the first match C.Talianos of Cyprus defeated A.Aden of Djibouti. In the second match, M.Baghdatis of Cyprus defeated K.Mogueh. The third match was doubles. In this match G.Kalanov and C.Talianos of Cyprus defeated A.Aden and K.Mogueh of Djibouti in the sets by 6-1 and 6-0.
On 23rd January Cyprus played matches against Uganda. In this matches Cyprus team made excellent performance and defeated Uganda team by making score of 2-1. Out of the three matches Cyprus team won two matches and lost only one. Thus Cyprus team consistently made good performance.
