Colombia at the 2000 Davis Cup played their first match against team of Argentina in the 2nd Round Play-Offs. These matches were contested from 6th October to 8th October. In these matches Colombia could only win one match against Argentina. Out of the five matches of this round team of Argentina made good performance and defeated Colombia by winning 4 matches.
In the 1st Round Play-off matches that were held from 21st Jul to 23rd July Colombian team was against Bahamas. In the five matches of this Round Colombian team could only win two and the rest three matches were won by Bahamas.

These matches were held from 4th Feb to 6th Feb at the Campestre El Rancho Club. There were five matches organized in this round. In the first match Luis Morejon of Ecuador defeated Eduardo Rincon of Colombia in the straight sets by 2-6, 7-5, 7-5, 2-6 and 6-0. In the second match, Nicolas Lapentti defeated Pablo Gonzalez. The third match was also won by the pair of Ecuador Andres Gomez and Nicolas Lapentti defeating Pablo Gonzalez and Ruben Tolles. The fourth match was also lost by Ruben Tolles of Colombia. He was defeated by Giovanni Lapentti of Ecuador. In the fifth match also player of Colombia could not show good performance. Luis Morejon of Ecuador defeated Pablo Gonzalez of Colombia. Thus all the matches of the 1st Round were lost by the Colombian team.
