Eight nations participated in the Asia/Oceania Zone Group I with China, P.R at the 2000 Davis Cup. On 30th Jan team of China, P.R played matches against Uzbekistan in the 1st round. In this matches Uzbekistan team defeated China, P.R, by 3-0. The details of these matches are as follows:
In the first match of this round V. Kutsenko of Uzbekistan defeated B.Zhu of China, P.R in the sets by 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-3, 6-7(2) and 6-3. The second team was won by O.Ogorodov of Uzbekistan defeating Y.Zhang of China, P.R in the straight sets by 7-6(5), 6-3 and 6-4. The third doubles match was won by pair O.Ogorodov and D.Tomashevich of Uzbekistan defeating R.XU and J.Yang of China, P.R in the sets by 7-6(1), 7-6(1), and 6-3. The fourth and the fifth matches were not played.
On 9th April, there was match played between China, P.R and Thailand of the 1st round playoffs. The details of these matches are as follows: In the first match P.Srichaphan defeated Y.Zhang of China, P.R in the sets by 6-3, 6-2 and 6-1. In the second match B.Zhu of China, P.R defeated D.Udomchoke of Thailand in the sets by 7-6(5), 6-2 and 6-0. In the third doubles match P.Srichaphan and D.Udomchoke of Thailand defeated S.LI and R.XU of China, P.R. The fourth match was also won by Thailand’s P.Srichaphan defeating B.Zhu of China, P.R in the straight sets by 7-5, 6-3 and 6-4. The fifth match was won by D.Udomchoke of Thailand beating Y.Zhang in straight sets of 6-2 and 6-4. Thus in this matches of the first round Thailand team defeated China, P.R, by 4-1.
In the 8th October China, P.R, P.R played match against Lebanon of the 2nd round playoff stage. The details of this match were as follows: In the first match of this round, J.Zaatini of Lebanon defeated Y.Wang of China, P.R. The second match was won by B.Zhu of China, P.R defeating A.Hamadeh of Lebanon in the straight sets by 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 and 6-4. In the third doubles match, the Chinese pair R.Xu and B.Zhu of China, P.R defeated A.Hamadeh and J.Zaatini of Lebanon in the sets by 3-6, 7-6(9), 6-4 and 7-5. The fourth match was won by B.Zhu of China, P.R defeating J.Zaatini of Lebanon. The fifth match was won the Lebanon’s A.Hamadeh defeating Y.Zhang in the sets by 7-6(6) and 7-5. Thus China, P.R, P.R defeated Lebanon by 3-2 in the 2nd round playoffs matches.
