The First round matches were held from the 4th of February to the 6th of February. The first set of matches at the Davis Cup that Brazil played was against France. These games were held in the Municipal Centre, Florianopolis, Brazil. Brazil’s players put their best and gave a tough fight to the players from France. Out of the total 5 matches that Brazil played against France, 4 were won by the Brazil’s players while only 1 was won by the France’s players. Thus, Brazil successfully advanced to the Quarterfinal matches of the tournament which were held from 7th to the 9rth April at Marpendi Racquet Centre, Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. In this round, Brazil defeated Slovak Republic in 3 events out of total 5. Brazil’s players faced the talented players from Australia in the Semi final match played at A.N.Z Stadium, Brisbane, QLD, Australia on 14 July 2000. The rivals from Australia proved to be more experienced than the Brazil’s players. Here Brazil was defeated by Australia in all 5 events played.
