Introduction

Davis Cup was also known as the International Lawn Tennis Challenge. It was after the death of Dwight F. Davis in the year 1945 that this tournament was renamed in his honor. He played a major role in the development of the game amongst the four tennis players of the Harvard University. He actually completely designed the format of the game and was also a part of the match that was played between Great Britain and United States. This match was played in the year 1900 and thus it marked the beginning of the Davis Cup tournament. Kazakhstan at the 1995 Davis Cup participated in this 84th edition of this tournament.
