Davis cup is the premier international tennis tournament that is held annually. It was formerly known as the International Lawn Tennis Challenge. It actually started as a challenge between Great Britain and United States. This tennis showdown was conceived in the year 1899 but the match was played in the year 1900. Thus this year marked the beginning of the Davis Cup. As more and more nations started taking part this tournament became the premier international tennis tournament that is held only for Mens. This tournament became the largest annual international event that is held in the sport of tennis. There were a total of 115 teams that participated in this year of the tournament.
