Introduction
Davis Cup is the premier international tennis tournament that is held only for Mens. The International Tennis Federation governs this tournament. Started, as a challenge between Great Britain and United States this tournament soon became the largest international event that is held in the sport of tennis. Four tennis players of the Harvard University, which resulted into this tournament, conceived the idea of this tennis showdown between Great Britain and United States in the year 1899. Amongst them Dwight F. Davis played a major role. He was a part of the match and also designed the complete format of the game. Thus the tournament formerly known as the International Tennis Challenge was renamed after his death in his honor in the year 1945. The 1995 Davis Cup was the 84th edition of this tournament. Austria at the 1995 Davis Cup was one of the many participants that took part in this tournament.

Austria at the 1995 Davis Cup participated from the World Group. It participated from the first round. In the first round it contested against Spain. It defeated Spain by a score line of 4-1 and qualified to the quarterfinals. Competing against Sweden in the quarterfinals it lost to it miserably. Sweden completely dominated the round and defeated Austria. The score line by which Austria was defeated was 0-5. Thus Austria was out of this year’s tournament because of the knock out policy followed by Davis Cup. However it retained its World Group position.
