Davis Cup is the premier international event that is held for mens only. It is also regarded as the largest annual international event that is held in the sport of tennis. This tournament actually started as a challenge between Great Britain and United States. The idea of this tennis showdown was conceived in the year 1899 but the match was actually played in the year 1900. So 1900 marked the beginning of this tournament. This idea was conceived by four tennis player of the Harvard University. Amongst them Dwight F. Davis played a major role in the development of the game.
