Introduction
The Davis Cup is one of the most popular tennis tournaments in the world. It is the only tennis tournament that is being played between the teams fielded by nations and not between individual players. The tournament is being administered by International Tennis Tournament. The tournament took off with a tournament between the United States and Great Britain. Four members from the Harvard University incepted it. One of them Dwight Davis solely sponsored the tournament. He went on to become the first champion of this tournament. The tournament was previously known as the International Lawn Tennis Challenge but later on it was rechristened after the name of Dwight Davis. The tournament still holds equal amount of popularity and is played on the knock out format. The 1992 Davis Cup was the 81st edition of the tournament. Altogether there were 92 nations fielding their nations to participate in this tournament. Zambia at the 1992 Davis Cup participated from the group II of the Europe Africa’s Zone.
