Introduction
The Davis Cup is one of the leading tennis tournaments in the world. This is the only tennis tournament that is being held between teams fielded by different nations and not individual players. International Tennis Federation is administering the tournament. The tournament is being held on a knock out format. The origin of the tournament dates back to the year 1900 when a tournament was played between the United States and Great Britain. Four students from Harvard University conceived it. The tournament was eventually solely sponsored one of the students named Dwight Davis. He became the first champion of the tournament. The tournament was formerly known as the International Lawn Tennis Challenge but later on was rechristened after the name of D Davis. The 1992 Davis Cup tournament was the 81st edition of the event. Thailand at the 1992 Davis Cup advanced till the final round of their group. In the first round they defeated Singapore. They clinched the victory by a formidable margin of 5-0. In the semi final round they clashed with Malaysia. They managed to cross this hurdle as well by scoring heavily against Malaysia by a margin of 3-2. Thus they reached the final round where they met Hong Kong, China. They however lost to Hong Kong by a margin of 2-3. Thus with this loss their journey at this tournament came to an end.
