Introduction
The Davis Cup is the most famous and appreciated men's tennis tournaments in the world. The International Tennis Federation (ITF) is the responsible for organizing these activities. The Davis Cup for the first time was played on the Boston courts between the Great Britain and the team from the United States. The championship follows a knock-out format in which the teams compete for the cup in various categories. Formerly the event was called the International Lawn Tennis Challenge and later as the Davis Cup in the year 1945 after the death of Dwight Davis. Dwight Davis was one of the players from the team of members of the Harvard University. Dwight Davis took initiative in designing this tournament. The year 1992 marked for the Davis Cup its 81st edition. Total around 92 teams participated and Chile at the 1992 Davis Cup was Group I team in the American Zone. Since the number of participants increased in these tournaments a new Group III was added in all the zones in which the promotion and the relegation rounds and Group II were added.
