Introduction

The Davis cup tournament Tennis is one of the most significant events in the international Mens team tennis category. The event was first held in the year 1900 as a competition in between the British and the Americans. It was then known as the International Lawn Tennis Challenge. Later on in the year the tournament was renamed as the Davis cup tournament Tennis in the memory of Dwight Davis, a champion of the tournament in its first three appearances. At present the tournament is the largest sporting event and is held under the management of International Tennis Federation.

The tournament in that year was competed by 87 national teams from different zones.The final round of the tournament was played at the Palais des Sports de Gerald in Lyon, France.
