Philippines at the 1991 Davis Cup

Davis cup tournament Tennis is administered by The International Tennis Federation and is supposed to be one of the first kinds in the men’s tennis in the international level. United States is has won a maximum number of tournaments by winning around 31 tournaments. Next to it Australia has won around 28 tournaments. A group of four team players of Harvard University took an active part in starting this tennis tournament and also they had a purpose in doing so since they wanted to defeat the British tennis players in the field of tennis. Dwight Davis who was one among the four tennis players designed the tournament and purchased a silver trophy for the same.

Philippines at the 1991 Davis Cup showed their presence with an excellent performance in the first two levels but faced a shocking defeat in the World Group Qualifying round. In the first round it defeated Japan with a score line of 4-1.In the Semifinal round Philippines again defeated China with a comfortable 4-1 victory. After performing excellently in these two rounds the team players of Philippines were confident that they could win the World Group Qualifying round but they were unsuccessful and they faced a shameful 0-5 defeat by Sweden players.

Philippines at the 1991 Davis Cup the performance was outstanding in the First round as well as the semifinals but not in the Worlds Group Qualifying round were they were defeated by the players of Sweden and hence were out of the tournament.
