Formerly known as the International Lawn Tennis Challenge, the Davis Cup is regarded as the largest annual international event that is held in the sport of tennis. This event actually started as a challenge between United States and Great Britain. The idea of this tennis showdown was conceived in the year 1899 but was actually materialized in the year 1900. Gradually this event spread to other parts of the world and thus nations worldwide started taking part increasingly. This tournament is governed by the International Tennis Federation. The 1963 Davis Cup was the 52nd edition of the most important tournament for Mens. The finals of the tournament were held at the Memorial Drive Tennis Centre which is located in Adelaide situated in Australia.

United States defeated India by a score line of 5-0. Qualifying to the Challenge Round after two years United States competed with the defending champion Australia. It defeated Australia by a score line of 3-2.
