The Davis Cup is one of the much sought after international tennis tournaments, managed by the International Tennis Federation. It began as a competition between United States and Great Britain. United States has been the invincible winner over the years with 31 wins with Australia being the second best. It is conducted in a knock-out format with the competition being inter-regional. There are three zones – American zone, Euro/African zone, Asia/Oceania zone. With each of the zones having four groups, the upper two groups play a knock-out, while the others play the round-robin competition. The respective winners then compete against each other, which ultimately decide the final winner. Next, Sweden had its quarterfinal clash with France, which resulted in the Swedish win by 3-2. The Semifinal was played between Sweden and Chile, where Sweden again thrashed its opponent by a score of 3-2. The Final of the Europe zone saw the defeat of Sweden at the hands of Italy by an impressive score of 1-4.
