Today Davis Cup is amongst the most respected and popular men’s tennis tournaments in the world. It started in 1900 but the concept was foreseen by a team from Harvard University in 1899 itself. Formerly the Davis Cup was called the International Lawn Tennis Challenge before 1945. The United States and the Australian teams have been dominating this tournament through years by almost 31 and 28 wins respectively. This year marked for the Davis Cup its 44th edition. In this years semifinal round Canada marked a straight triumph over the Caribbean/West Indies team by winning all the five matches straight. The zonal final was played between Canada and Australia on the grass courts of Montreal in Canada. It faced a shameful defeat as Australia won four out of the five matches. They could barely manage to overpower Australia in one game.
