India’s match with Scotland abandoned due to rain

Scorecard Twenty20-Teams, Schedule, Team Standings
13 Sep 2007, Durban: India’s first match against Scotland was abandoned due to rain without even a single ball being bowled at the Kingsmead Stadium, Durban.

Scotland won the toss and asked Indian cricket team to bat first, but the incessant rain had other plans. Rain didn’t stop and Australian umpires Simon Taufel and Steve Davis, observing that not even five overs a side could be played to decide the fate of the match, called off the match.

Both Scotland cricket team and Indian cricket team were awarded one point each. The sharing of points had made the going for India tough in the Twenty20 World Cup. They have to win their next match to be played on Friday with their arch-rival Pakistan, who had already registered a win against Scotland.

In case, Pakistan succeeds in beating Indian cricket team; then net run rates of India and Scotland cricket team will decide who will move into to the Super-Eight round from Group-D.

Indian cricket team is without the service of its three senior key-players—Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Saurav Ganguly and in the absence of ODI captain Rahul Dravid, dashing wicketkeeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been bestowed with the responsibility of leading the team in the shortest version of cricket.

Teams

India: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (capt & wk), Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Robin Uthappa, Yuvraj Singh Dinesh Karthik, Irfan Pathan, Ajit Agarkar, Harbhajan Singh, RP Singh, Sreesanth.
