There are four bodies that recognizes world champions they are:
- The World Boxing Council (WBC) founded in 1963

- International Boxing Federation (IBF) founded in 1983
- World Boxing Organization (WBO)founded in 1988
A boxing game match is usually of predetermined number of rounds, each round is of three minutes. Each fighter enters into ring from his assigned corner at the start of every round and returns back to their corner at the end of each round when it is signaled by referee. After that,a minute is spend by fighters in their respective assigned corners with their coaches to get advice and attentions.
Fights are controlled by the referee who is present within ring for judgment and control fighters for their conduct. Boxing rules are predefined for fighters to fight safely and for fouls.
There are three judges at ringside to give points to boxers depending on punches, defense and knockdowns. The boxer with highest score is winner, a boxer might win before decision is reached by judges when fighter knock downs the opponent during fight. As the referee starts counting upto ten if the player is able to return to his feet then game continues else knocked down fighter is “knocked out” and other player is ruled winner by knockout (KO). In another situation if opponent fighter got injured and is unable to continue the game or is unable to defend himself safely then by the decision of referee other boxer is declared as winner this is known as “Technical Knockout”(TKO).
Boxers are not allowed to hit below the belt, they are not allowed to hold, blow down, push, bite. They are not allowed to kick on head or hit with any part of arm but they are allowed to use knuckles of their fist and can also hit with elbow, shoulder, forearm, wrist.
They are also banned from hitting at back, back of head or neck or at kidneys. They are not allowed to hold ropes for support while punching, holding opponent.
If at the time of “clinch” ( an instance used by boxers to hold opponent about the arms or body as a defensive move) a pause is created, it is broken by referee and each fighter must move back before punching again.
Violations of rules is known as “fouls” by referee, who can then issue warnings, or deduct points or can disqualify an offending fighter. An intentional foul that resulted in injury to opponent leading to break in match leads to disqualification of offender.
If a boxer faces an accidental low-blow he may be given five minutes to recover, after that also if he is not able to recover then he can be knocked out.
