Introduction
The Guyana National stadium, West Indies is also known as the “Providence Stadium.” It is located along the East Bank Highway. It is on the east bank of the Demerara River and a few kilometers south of the capital, Georgetown. Overall, the stadium is only a ten-minute drive from Georgetown’s city center and a 30-minute drive from Cheddi Jagan International Airport.

After completion of construction, Guyana National stadium, West Indies will be the largest stadium in Guyana. The Government of Guyana, along with considerable assistance from the Government of India, built the stadium. It was designed by C.R. Narayana Rao of CRN Architects and Engineers and was constructed by Shapoorji Pallonji and Co.Ltd. The cost of the stadium was estimated to $25,000,000 US. It would have a seating capacity of 20,000 spectators. The stadium will also consist of a shopping mall and luxury apartments. Buddy’s hotel is situated adjacent to the stadium and will have several luxury guest rooms.
Sports in Guyana National Stadium, West Indies
The Guyana National Stadium, West Indies is built specially for the Super Eight matches in the 2007 Cricket World Cup. The first match is on 28th March between the team no.2 of group A and team no.1 of group B. The second match is on 30th March between the team no.2 of group C and team no.1 of group D. The third match is on 1st April between team no.1 of group B and team no.2 of group D. The fourth match is on 3rd April between team no.2 of group A and team no.1 of group D. The fifth match is on 7th April between team no.2 of group A as well as B. the sixth match is on 9th April between team no.1 of group C as well as D.
