Basseterre is the capital city of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis located in West Indies. The city is located in the South Western coast of the St. Kitts Island. The estimated population of the city is 15,500. Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis serves as the biggest commercial depots of the Leeward Islands. The city was founded by the French in the year 1627 and served as the capital of ten French colonies. The city skirts across a 2-mile bay on the south Western shore of the St. Kitts. The location of the city is marked by the Basseterre valley and is surrounded by the lush green hills and mountains that make it a picturesque spot. Basseterre experiences a maritime climate almost all the year round.
