Introduction
The first recorded match in the history of Scotland dates back to 1975. However, its first international match was played in the year 1865 against Surrey where they had won by 172 runs. In 1948, Australia visited Scotland to play 2 matches there at the end of the tour of England. Later in 1980, Scotland first competed in the English domestic cricket and played in the Benson and Hedges cup. Scotland was elected to associate membership by the international cricket council in 1994.
International tournaments
The team of Scotland had not played in the World Cup of Cricket till 1996 since the nation was not a member of the ICC. Scotland did its debut in the World Cup of 1999 but was out in the first round itself. However, the team failed to qualify for the 2003 World Cup.
Scotland has however, displayed the talent that its players have in the ICC Trophy and the European Championships. The history of the Scottish team’s achievements is as follows

The current captain of the Scottish cricket team is Craig Wright. Dougie Brown, Ryan Watson, John Blain along with the captain are the top players in the team to watch for. In an ODI against Kenya, Ryan Watson scored 117 runs not out, the highest ever by a Scottish player. In an ODI against Bangladesh, John Blain gave his best bowling performance ever where he took 4 wickets for 27 runs.
