Introduction
The team of New Zealand is commonly called as the ‘Black Caps’. New Zealand cricket team played their first test match in 1930 against England. It was fifth nation to have ever played a test match. However, the first test that the nation won was in the year 1957 against West Indies. The first ODI was played against Pakistan in Christchurch, New Zealand.

The New Zealand team has always given a performance of international standards at all the World Cups. The team had reached the semi finals in the World Cup of 1975 and 1979. However, it was out in the first round itself in the 1983 and 1987 tournaments. The loss shook them up terribly and the ‘black caps’ burst out on the World Cup scene securing a place in the semi finals in the 1992 and 1999 World Cups.
