Introduction
The Indian cricket team is an International cricket team that represents India. It is governed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). At present, the Indian cricket team is the highest paid sports team in the world in terms of sponsorship. India's debut in Test cricket came on 25 June 1932 at Lord's, England. Currently, Rahul Dravid is the captain of Team India and the coach is Greg Chappell. India's official ICC Test ranking is 4 while One Day International (ODI) ranking is 5. India has played 399 Test matches, out of which there were 88 wins and 129 losses. Indian team gained strength with the emergence of players like Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev. The Indian Cricket team has continued to be highly ranked in both Test cricket and ODIs
Team India's World Cup Performance
As far as India's World Cup performance is considered, they reached round 1 in 1975 and in 1979. In 1983, they were the Champions, which was the most spectacular event in Indian cricket history. Then in 1987, they reached the semi-finals. In 1992, the reached round 1, and again in 1996, they reached the semi-finals. In 1999, they were amongst the Super 6 (6th Place), and in 1999, they were Runners Up. Besides these events, India has played in various events and won many matches, for example the ICC Champions Trophy, Commonwealth Games, and Asia Cup.

Some members of the current squad of Team India include Rahul Dravid, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Virender Sehwag, Irfan Pathan, Ajit Agarkar, Anil Kumble, and Harbhajan Singh. It would be definitely very interesting to see Team India recreate the magic of 1983.
