WORLD CUP OF CRICKET 2007, WEST INDIES |
|
|
Team Canada |
|
Introduction
Team Canada is yet to attain the status of a test playing nation. But it has made its mark in the one day international cricket and the first class form of cricket. The cricketing history of the country dates back to the year 1844 but eventually the game lost its position in the national with very few showing their interest towards the game. In the recent years the game again got its standing in the country with few of the migrants from the Asian Sub Continent reviving the game in the country. There are few of the players from the Caribbean Island who has joined the bandwagon to give a facelift to the Canadian Cricket. It is evident from the fact that the main components of the Canadian Cricket Team in the 2003 world cup cricket belonged to the countries like India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and West Indies. It is a matter of glory for the national team to get featured in the forthcoming world cup. Canada repeated the feat of booking place at the world by continuing their participation from the 2003 world cup cricket to the 2007 world cup cricket.
Team Canada’s World Cup Performance Stats
Team Canada was a part of the last world cup held in the year 2003 at South Africa. Although they could not advance beyond the first round of the tournament but they made their mark with their spirited show. One of the highlights of the event was the superlative batting display by the Canadian batsman John Davison. He scored the fastest century in the history of the tournament against West Indies. But his performance failed to lift the spirits of the other players to display better performance.
Team Canada 2007 World Cup Performance Preview
Team Canada is among the non-test playing nations qualifying for the world cup through the ICC tournaments. The country has won that tournament second year in a row to book their place at the world cup. After the sparkling performance of John Davison in the last world cup it is expected that they will work towards producing better results in this world cup.
