Introduction
The World Cup Cricket 2007 is going to be one of the biggest sporting extravaganzas in this year. World Cup is the top cricketing glory among the nations indulged in the game. It is a quadrennial sporting event. This world cup will be hosted by West Indies located on the Caribbean Sea. The world cup fever is rising among the frenzied cricket fans and the countdown has begun with the warm up matches taking off. The picturesque locale of the Caribbean Islands and the state of the art stadiums will add to the existing euphoria. There will be 16 nations contesting this event and the increment in the nations participating has forced a change in the structure of the event. The sporting event is now segregated into 1st Round – Group Matches, 2nd – Super Eight, Semifinals and Finals.
Groups at the Semifinals and Finals
Although the initial stages of the event underwent change but the later part of the event remained same. The last two stages of the event constitutes of the Semifinals and Finals. The semi finals stage of the event will consist of four teams. The top four teams from the 2nd round – super eight stages will advance to the semi final round. The semi final is the knock out stage was two matches would be held. The winner of each of the match will advance to the final round of the event.
Structure of the Semifinals and Finals
The Semifinals and Finals are the last phases of the event that will decide the fate of the event. The first semi final will be held between the 2nd and 3rd position holder of the Super Eight stage and the other semi final will be contested by the 1st and the 4th position holder of the super eight stages. The two winners from the semi finals will get to contest the final round. The winner of the final round will carry back the top cricketing glory back home.
